This fine French violin was made around 1900. It is made to the standard of quality of the Paris school, which includes a long list of renowned makers such as: Vuillaume, Collin-Mezin, Mougenot, etc. This instrument is perfectly lovely in both looks and tonal characteristics. Its incredibly rich warm tone will thrill the classical violinist.
Of interest is the fine bridge that came with the violin, personally made by the great Dutch luthier, Jacob Jan van de Geest (1899-1974). Geest established himself in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1939, and was known as “The Wonderful Dutchman.”
