Marvelous French Violin by Luc Gallicanne!
It is very rare that we get a violin of this quality crafted by an individual maker. The varnish has the dark spots which have become Gallicanne’s “trademark” of sorts. I have seen the same markings on other violins by him. I assume it was the result of his unique varnishing technique. The tone is very full, and rich–on the dark side of warm. The tone evaluation chart below shows that this is a truly remarkable violin!
Very good condition. It has no repairs, only some varnish touch-up has been done.
Rare opportunity to own a fine French violin by a very remarkable maker.
