German Violin Imported by E. J. Albert.
E. J. Albert was a fine American maker and businessman, who also imported violins to fill the demand he had for violins. This one was from Germany, maybe the Richter workshop, judging by the “R” stamped on the top block. This is a well-made violin with four full corner blocks and a very good smooth, warm tone. It comes set up with the original E. J. Albert Bridge.
This violin is in excellent condition. There is the common re-glued center seam under the tailpiece, and the varnish has the usual chips, etc. That’s it, though: this is a great violin for the price.
Set up with D’Addario Zyex strings.
